Fall is a beautiful time of year. Leaves in various colors. A harvest cornucopia. Mist in the air. Pumpkins everywhere.
You could say fall is a writer’s dream. It’s a season you experience with all five senses. Beautiful descriptions just wait to be penned.
Our writing prompt this month is simply to describe the beauty and fun of the fall season.

You can start anywhere and go in any direction. The goal of a writing prompt is to help you get started writing freely. No self-editing. No outline or plan. Just putting words on paper as you create them. Capturing whatever thoughts or images inspire you.
Start by immersing yourself in the fall atmosphere in some way. Maybe you’ll go to a harvest market or pumpkin patch. Grab a cup of pumpkin spice latte and a blanket. Look at fall photos. In some way, allow yourself to feel the beauty of the season.

Then set an alarm for 15 minutes and start writing from this prompt:
The beauty of fall is …
Don’t think about it. Don’t prep or plan. Just wept those five words and keep going.
Full sentences are optional. If you want to just write descriptive words or phrases or one long, ongoing sentence, that’s great. Just keep writing from your heart, with your internal editor switched off.
See what you come up with.

You’re not writing for a specific project, although this exercise may inspire you to revisit something specific.
What you’re doing is allowing your creativity to flow in any direction. You’re breathing in inspiration, exercising creative writing muscles, and getting use to putting words on paper without editing as you go along.
When you finish your writing exercise, take more time just to breathe in the beauty of fall. Enjoy this amazing season. Allow your inspiration and creativity to be nurtured and grow.
